Editorial Consulting Services
Sometimes a film needs a fresh set of eyes and a second opinion from an experienced editor who isn’t too close to the material. I have consulted on dozens of films, offering detailed editing notes, advice on refining characters or storylines, restructuring the dramatic arc of a film, or cutting a feature length doc to a TV hour or educational version.
Recent projects include Laurie Sumiye’s A Paradise Lost, Ellen Frankenstein’s Cruise Boom, and Gemma Cubero del Barrio’s The Island in Me.
Give me a call, I would love to help you out.

I trust Shirley’s eye and way of seeing the world through film. She is not only a very talented film editor, but a trustworthy film professional and a storyteller of great depth.
GEMMA CUBERO DEL BARRIO
We brought two jobs to Shirley for our documentary CARE and she knocked them both out of the park. She did both jobs in way less time than we had any reason to expect–and the final products exceeded our expectations. Shirley is a sharp and insightful editor, a great collaborator, and lots of fun. We couldn’t recommend her more highly.
DIERDRE FISHEL & TONY HERIZA
Shirley rocks! I’m so appreciative of how she sees what a film is trying to, and can be. I can’t say enough good things about my experiences working with her.
